{Experiments with metal shafts went by several phases. In 1924 the Union Hardware Organization of Torrington, Connecticut, U.S., drew a seamless shaft of significant-carbon metal that could be heat-handled and tempered. It had been accredited via the R&A in 1929 and substantially replaced hickory during the early 1930s. Inside the nineteen sixties
